Thanks for getting my bike done up.
I rode it for 130km yesterday.
The initial feel was a bit strange, maybe I still have the old feeling of my Pinarello.
But gradually I settle comfortably into riding it except for the stiffness which I don’t find while ricin a carbon or alu bike. (more…)
I first discovered Bikes N Bites when a friend referred me to Paul and the team to get properly fitted on my road bike. I had purchased a Trek Madone – my first bike in over 20 years – in Australia in 2014 and the bike shop I purchased it from didn’t properly fit me on the bike.
Paul and his team did a very thorough job fitting me on the bike and honestly I think it was the best ~$150 I’ve ever spent! I was a lot more comfortable on the bike after the fitting and more importantly…I was faster! (more…)
So sorry for the late race report!! But here it goes…
Pre Race: Reach KL on Friday evening, feeling very relax about this race. I used to do well in Powerman races in Putrajaya, so I take it like I’m racing in a familiar place.
Everything went well on Saturday, bike has no issue, run leg feel good.
Swim: It was a rolling start, I started at the front, but somehow did not have a good swim, as I was stuck in a slower pack swimmer. I’m thinking is probably those swimmer who did not seed themself properly. But it was ok still, swam at 34 minutes.
Bike: The bike is always the fun part. Love riding on my P5, and this race it is no different. I pretty much ride solo 95% of the time. I saw some familiar faces hammering on the bike, but I just kept to my intended watts and did not want to burn too many mastches in a hot and humid race like Putrajaya 70.3
I have not been riding outside a lot, hence my bike handling is not the best..something which I need to do more often is definitely riding outdoor more..but pretty good time on the bike..went 2hour34mins..
Run: I know I’m probably in top5 in my age group after the bike. The heat was really scorching on the run. Even the great Craig Alexander only ran 1h21min half marathon…that tells you how hot and humid the weather is.
I was just glad that I did not over bike, as I started to catch a lot of people on the run, especially on the 2nd half of the run..even though I was suffering from the heat too. Again, I did not run outdoor as much as I should have, hence the weather really kills me…so next time I go to Putrajaya 70.3, I will definitely do more outdoor bike and run…
Ran a 1h41min half marathon, not my best..but I’ll take it…
Overall got 2nd in my AG. A good early season race for me. Next “A” race is Bintan 70.3, and IM Langkawi..
WIll probably do a few more shorter races before that too…
