Inossidabile

The construction of the Inossidabile frame requires incredible skill. The result is a bike with a strong soul as the material it's forged from

"We wanted to make a bike that would make the hearts of heroic cycling enthusiasts beat faster, whose material is famous for its strength and durability. This is the origin of Inossidabile, an ideal combination of historic cycling and contemporary technologies"

An unassailable stainless racer. The Inossidabile is created for those seeking the most modern and aggressive of steel bicycles. Crafted from Columbus’ unmatched XCr stainless tubing, the extreme hardness of this material requires the highest degree of skill to work with. Pushing our artisan frame builders to the limits of their abilities, once formed into a frame, it’s a material that imparts a ride quality formerly unimaginable. Stanch yet forgiving, robust yet incredibly lightweight, even in its raw form, it’s also both beautiful and impervious to the elements.

Rigid when pushed and responsive to every steering input, the Inossidabile uses a subtly sloping geometry that prioritises speed and agility. Based around a frame composed of broad diameter tubes, the wide junctions between these ensure the bicycle flexes only where this trait is desirable. Each of the frame’s gleaming stainless tubes is also heavily worked to produce perfectly tailored characteristics, resulting in a sublimely composed ride. Made possible by Passoni’s collaboration with Milan-based tubing makers Columbus, these efforts are visible in the profile of the Inossidabile’s unique drop-shaped downtube and bi- oval seat and top tubes. Machine-perforated and cold drawn countless times before being welded together, this allows the Inossidabile’s tubing to achieve the exact taper and profile required. Also unique in the way its grain structure remains unaltered by the heat of fabrication, this ensures the material’s incredible characteristics are carried across the entirety of the frame.

Timeless despite its oversize tubes, the Inossidabile benefits from many reliable standards. Towards the front of the bike, its 1 ⅛” headtube is created from a seamlessly drawn tube into which a pair of semi-integrated bearing cups are then welded. Housing the bike’s custom Columbus Futura SL fork, this provides either a 45 or 50mm rake. Elsewhere a threaded bottom bracket shell and easy to adjust external cable routing provide both convenience and futureproofing. Ensuring the look of the bicycle remains as contemporary as its mechanical performance, the finish of the frame itself is also near impervious to damage. The result of around 30 hours of hand polishing, its mirror finish requires no further treatment. Showing off the unparalleled technology and craft that goes into creating the Inossidabile, subtle sandblasted graphics are the perfect foil to its blemishless exterior.
